Tickets available March 13 for the Nashville Public Library Foundation’s 2025 family-focused fundraiser
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The 10th annual Picnic with the Library event, hosted by the Nashville Public Library Foundation (NPLF), is set to take place on Sunday, April 27 at the Main Library Branch downtown. Co-chaired by Libba and Niel Alden, Lillian Blackshear Peay and Clifton Peay, and Hayley and Barton Simmons, the Picnic will be themed around Where The Wild Things Are, letting the wild rumpus start with Max and his monster friends, bringing the classic tale to life for children of all ages.
“We are excited to announce our esteemed group of chairs for 2025 as we make plans for this beloved annual celebration,” said Shawn Bakker, president of NPLF. “Their deep commitment to advancing’s NPLF’s mission is so inspiring and appreciated. We look forward to uniting with Nashville families in celebration of the Picnic’s tenth year, where their support will contribute to the promotion of early and Nashville Public Library programs.”
The afternoon of family-friendly fun, available by purchasing a picnic basket package, features puppet shows and story time from Wishing Chair Productions, family photos, face painting, music, crafts, visits from favorite children’s book characters, food, cocktails, and more.
Picnic with the Library raises critical funds to support life-changing children’s early literary programming, like Nashville Public Library’s Wishing Chair Productions, story times, Puppet Truck visits, mentorship programs and early literacy initiatives reaching more than 100,000 children and their families.
New this year, Studio NPL, the library’s cutting-edge maker space for middle and high school students, will bring hands-on STEM activities for older kids to enjoy. Studio NPL provides youth with a safe space to explore and develop 21st century skills with open access to new technology and creative tools like 3D printing, podcasting, video editing, music recording, and more.
