Many of NPL’s award-winning programs are funded through private contributions to the Nashville Public Library Foundation via Carnegie Society membership. Members invest in NPL resources and receive a range of exclusive benefits while supporting this community treasure.
A highlight of membership is the annual Carnegie Society Book Club—Nashville’s most intriguing and exclusive book club, open to members only. Each year, the club explores a captivating text, such as last year’s selection, The Personal Librarian, with special guest Erica Ciallela from The Morgan Library & Museum in New York.

Last year, Wishing Chair Productions, the library’s award-winning puppet troupe known for creating world-class shows for both children and adults, presented 25 outreach performances, engaging 4,242 patrons, and 321 in-house performances with 26,950 in attendance. In total, the troupe held 346 programs, reaching 31,192 children, adults, and seniors.
Studio NPL served over 11,000 during library programs and 4,500 through 228 mobile lab programming hours in FY24. Additionally, the 3D print-on-demand service served over 500 patrons with a combination of one-on-one tutorials and 3D prints.
