Parent and Preschool Music Teacher

My husband and I love to read with our kids and have always been interested in learning as much as we can about how to engage them in reading activities. I have a master’s degree in education and am a music teacher at Christ Church Preschool.

As a teacher, I know there is always something more I can learn. This drive is what initially motivated me to participate in Bringing Books to Life’s parent workshops, and the resources I acquired are what kept me coming back. I’ve been to every single workshop but one (because I was out of town) and have enjoyed incorporating the workshop ideas and materials not only in my home, but in my music lessons as well. It’s so important to read with children from a young age, and it was helpful to be reminded of all the ways it enhances a child’s life at the start of every workshop.

… The workshops have taught us new reading techniques that truly engage our children and teach them how to use their imaginations. It’s helped inspire their reading and storytelling.

The BBTL teachers introduced me to a book, “Reading is Magic,” by Mem Fox, and I immediately made my husband read it. We have so much more fun with story time now, and overall, the workshops have taught us new reading techniques that truly engage our children and teach them how to use their imaginations. It’s helped inspire their reading and storytelling.
