Dollar General, Director of Community Initiatives

It is with great honor that I invest myself both personally and philanthropically in the Nashville Public Library and its unparalleled literacy program, Limitless Libraries. As a member of the Foundation’s board and as director of Community Initiatives for Dollar General, I can truly say this program directly combats illiteracy on the front line, and impacts the lives of more than 80,000 students, their teachers, families and fellow members of the community every day.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation believes in the power of learning to read, and considers literacy an investment that opens doorways for personal, professional and economic growth. Our commitment to literacy is the initial reason we chose to support Limitless Libraries, and its continued success and unique ability to shape education in our community is why we have continued. Limitless Libraries enables children in public schools across Nashville to read current books they love and want to read and may not have access to otherwise. It allows teachers to use relevant collections that help advance their teaching in the classroom. Additionally, Limitless Libraries is creating cost efficiencies, fostering resource sharing and helping modernize public school libraries in our community. Limitless Libraries has the ability to partner schools and libraries nationwide – its future is truly limitless. This is a program worth recognizing and a cause that will benefit entire communities, workforces and beyond.
