Over the past four years, Bringing Books to Life! staff has cultivated relationships with local teachers and students in preschools. In an effort to create a continual relationship with the families of children who participate in the program, BBTL has begun to offer workshops for parents called Loving & Learning. These workshops teach parents to identify and encourage early literacy skills in the home.

Vanderbilt's Early Reading First Grant (Enhanced Language and Literacy Success) w/ Metro Nashville Public Schools. BBTL is a subcontractor on this $3.4 million federal grant, providing family literacy workshops, library nights, and puppet truck performances to the 7 schools participating in the project. The grant is a three-year project and aims to improve the language and literacy skills of pre-K children through classroom instruction, school-home programs (including BBTL's Loving & Learning workshops), and a summertime enrichment program at the YMCA.
Nearly 700 students from Wright Middle School came to the Main Library in November to see a special performance of Hamlet. BBTL staff worked with Language Arts and Social Studies teachers to develop ways to bring Hamlet to life in the classroom prior to their visit. In addition, students toured Nashville Public Library and learned about the resources available to them (like the new Teen Center).
